Land Rover Repair: engine light LR3, green with envy, suspension lines

Question
John:  I'm 600 miles from home and I think 250 from a dealer. I have a new LR3 about 3600 miles. I have been light off roading here in Colorado and yesterday when I started my car the amber "check engine light" came on.  Temp, oil pressure and other  indicators seem fine, and it's running OK.  What are the risks of waiting two weeks and 700 miles until I get home?

Answer
Hi Pearl,

your LR3 is still a baby! 3600 miles and the CHECK ENGINE light comes on...hard to believe!

The only issue I've heard about is the EAS is weak.  Some off-roaders complain that air suspension lines leak too easily.  Others complained that the air compressor fails.

If its running ok then you should be able get to a local auto shop and have someone read the OBDII code that triggered the CHECK ENGINE light.  They can reset the system and see if the CHECK ENGINE light triggers again and on the same code.

You're under full warranty...so give LR a call and ask "what's up with the CHECK ENGINE?".  For the price you've paid, LR should fly out a mechanic and service the LR3 in you driveway.  Yeah, I know...then there's reality.

Best of luck,

JohnMc

NB: I'm green with envy.
