Land Rover Repair: check engine light discovery 2, land rover dealer, lambda sensor

Question
hi john, ive been experiencing a number of problems with my landrover its a 99 discovery 2, well the most resent problem is a code that reads 1170 fuel & air control. i thought it was somthing with the gas tank cap cause it seems to come on when i fill the tank also when i put fuel in my tank, i cant go fast to fill it, cause it stops the pump, from pumping fuel, maybe that could be the problem. just thought you might know, where i can start to fix the problem. other than that my rover has been running alright. i was also wondering as when i take the negitive wire off my battery to clear the fault code, what code do i put in my stereo to turn it back on, i bought my rover used and it doesnt have a owners manual. which im working on geting one but thats weeks from now. thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. ahh 1 more where do you think i can  get a book to read these codes

Answer
Hi Thomas,

This could be a fuel pump or pressure related problem.  P1170 is Lambda sensor aging tv bank 1Drive cycle C:Signal out of range - above maximum / below minimum .

Have the fuel line pressure checked and the the MAF tested as well.

The stereo code will have to come from your local Land Rover dealer.

Here is one website that has OBDII codes:
