Land Rover Repair: valve cost land rover, valve job, component work

Hi John, I'm interested in Discover SE7 1996, but it needs a valve job, it did not pass inspection.  The price of the vehicle is 3,900.00. How much for a valve job?

very nice price for that Disco!  IF all that is required is a valve job, they can start at about $2000 US and go from there.  It depends on what else is revealed once the valve job begins.

I know that certain engines have troubles with the exhaust valves and that they begin to stick.  The only remedy is to have a valve job.  Other than that, most Disco engines are well built.  

The price seems extremely tempting.  I'd make sure that all it needs is a valve job and that no other hidden vices are waiting to jump out at you.  If it is possible, have the Disco inspected by a LR dealer.  They can track the VIN and see what warranty work, recall work and (perhaps) major component work has been done.  They'll also provide an inspection that can reveal further work orders and give you an idea how much that will cost you and when you'll need to have it done.
