Land Rover Repair: Alternator brushes, land rover discovery, alternator brushes

Just wondering if ther is anybody who supplies alternator brushes (and/or other alt. parts)
I have 1994 Land Rover Discovery with Marelli alternator, and the battery light comes on every now and then, will stay on for various periods of time.

you and me both!  Last summer, I had to rebuild my Marelli alt and I managed to salvage the brushes from the damage the bearing did when it finally seized.  I used a drill and a small piece of sandpaper to reshape the brushes that had been split in two.  I thank my neighbour for helping me with this - his expertise is amazing.

I would suggest to you to start searching the salvage yards for a replacement alt.  I plan to do this to solve my brush problem.   For about $40US I can have a backup alt that I can swap in at a moments notice (approx. 35min).

I did go to a alternator specialist and I was disappointed to see that they did not have a marelli alt in the shop.  They use parts that closely match but not necessarily original.  That's what prompts me to look for salvage yard alts.  

www.car-part.com is my favourite site.  It's save me 100's of dollars.
