I have a late 1999 Discovery petrol series 2 with 96000kms
It has a lot of PS pump noise especialy around 1800 revs when still or driving slow. When cold at first startup it is fine but after running more than 30 mins it becomes very loud.

Hi John,

could be the bearings that are wearing down, so its time to change the PS pump.  Do you have a PS leak?  You can always find a less expensive replacement from an auto salvage yard (wrecker over here in NA).   I had to replace mine last summer and it cost me $85US (including shipping & taxes).  Rebuilts are around $200 and OEM is close to $500.

Don't wait until it ceases and you find yourself needing a tow.
