Land Rover Repair: 1995 land rover disc tail lights, hi matthew, plastic button

Question
I just a bought a 1995 disc and I do not know how to change the tail light bulb. I don't see any srews on the lens cover nor do I see an acess panel in the rear cab.

Answer
Hi Matthew,

the tail light panel is located inside behind the two side bucket storage areas.  You should see a rectangle plastic panel with a small button clip on top.  Gently pry off the plastic button cover to reveal a screw.  Remove the screw and the panel will be easy to slide out (lift/slide).

Once removed, you'll be able to see into the unique light pane that holds the various bulbs.  Select the faulty bulb holder and twist until it comes loose.  I think its almost a 1/4 turn.  Pull out bulb holder to reveal bulb.

Bulb is a push down 1/4 turn to remove from holder.

Reversal is easy...just make sure the edging tabs are aligned correctly (hint: one of the tabs is larger and is towards the bottom).

When repairing the bulbs, you have two choices; you can do the above and replace the bulbs with some discomfort OR  you can undo the entire light component.  To do this, you'll have to remove the two brackets that hold the unit in place.  Be careful when you push out the light unit.  It has been on the Disco for about 10 years and could take some paint with it.  That is why I suggested the first method.

For the lights on the bumper, just go behind the bumper and its almost the same as above.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
