Land Rover Repair: Range Rover Air Suspension Issues, range rover air suspension, discoweb org

Question
Please help - I'm at my witts end.  I have a 96 Rover 4.0 that I just purchased and the dealership wants to rape me with fixing an air suspension problem.  They say it needs a valve block driver and lifter thingies.  The truck has 164,000 miles on it and I know for a fact that the airbags are dryrotted.  But the dealer keeps saying I need valve block even though the truck comes up and down.  Now, all the idiot lights are on and the truck is sitting on the ground.  If I get in it and drive forward and reverse a couple times the truck will eventually rise - but with messages that says don't drive over 35mph???  Do you have any suggestions on where I can get airbags and a manual to install myself?

Look forward to your answer .... thanks, Michelle

Answer
Hi Michelle,

in cases like yours, I would trust the LR mechanic if he insists that its a valve block.  They've seen enough of these problems to have a much better guess.

You can try www.disco2.com or www.discoweb.org for suspension information.  One of these sites may be able to point you to the right resource.

Other Rangie owners have had your trouble and I'd stay within the 35mph limit if I were you.

Try finding parts from auto wreckers.  They are a fraction of the price and just as good.

www.car-part.com is my preferred site.

Best of luck,
