Land Rover Repair: motor cuts out when driving at a constant speed, fuel line filter, throttle position sensor

hi john i bought my 97 land rover 3 weeks ago from a used car lot. when i test drove the thing it shut off on me the dealer has replaced the fuel pump 2 times the in tank filter 2 times and the fuel line filter 1 time and 2 days ago the thing started cutting out when driving at a constant speed the truck doesnot shut down all the way but it boggs down like the motor is geting no gas any ideas?

Hi Paul,

could be a TPS problem.  The Throttle Position Sensor has been known to fail and gives the same symptoms.  Cost me well over $5000 to find out this $500 part was the cause.  I hope it does not cost you that much!

NB:  its also possible that you have an exhaust valve problem.  Depends on what engine you have.  Deposits form on the exhaust side and the only solution is a valve job (removal, cleaning and/or replacement).  About $2000 US.  Hope this is not your problem BUT wanted you to know other possibilities.
