Land Rover Repair: Brake pedal noise, unwanted moisture, dash lights

Question
Hello Gents,  I have a 96 Disco-Manual transmission w/ 148K.  Aside from my ABS dash lights that are on, when I press the brake pedal there is a creaking noise that comes from the footwell.  It becomes more pronounced when up to operating temp.  I have sprayed lube on the linkage/spring with no effect.  Is there a actuator or plunger beyond the firewall that I can lubricate or is it something like the booster?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Guy,

Could this be the slave cylinder on the brake master cyclinder? A servo problem?  Brake fluid can absorb moisture and cause internals to rust...especially springs.

When was the last time you flushed your brake fluid?  Use only new fluid...old fluid can add unwanted moisture causing air and rust.

I would buy some brake fluid and try flushing the entire system.  If this does not work, you'll need LR help to open up the MC and examine for trouble.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
