Land Rover Repair: Wheel Freeze, electrical pulses, experimental transmission

Question
John,
I have a 2003 Freelander and the other day while I was driving at approximately 35 mph, the wheels started rubbing, causing the car to go out of control, and then as I attempted to pull to the side of the road the vehicle made a 180 degree spin.  I had it towed to the dealership on a flat bed because the wheels were completely locked in place.  Do you know what happened?  Have you seen this before?  I heard it has something to do with an experimental transmission that uses gel and electrical pulses to work.  Do you know anything about this?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello Adam,

this is a bizarre and serious problem that I have never heard of.  Imagine if you were on the highway? I hope no one was hurt.

This is news to me.  The ETC must have really screwed up for this to happen.   Luckily, its under warranty.  Keep after LR to determine what happened.  Document everything and make sure you are satisfied with the answers the Service department gives you.

I wish you the best of luck with this problem.
