Engine Noises...Having trouble with metallic sound coming from valve train?  Lifters, Valves, or?? (no hard knocking).  Is there a way to determine what could be causing this noise and Has this been a problem with these 4.0 engines.
Could replacing the lifters fix this or ???

My son is a mechanic and will fix it, he just wants to know if this is a coming problem with these engines.  

Will a Land Rover Dealer let you view the service history of your vehicle???

Hi Norm,

Yes, the 4.0 engine does require some valve adjustment depending on how much mileage it has and how it was driven.  Your son should be able to perform a valve adjustment.  Make sure to buy the HAYNES #3016 service and repair manual.  Well worth the $29.95

Yes, if you go to your local LR dealer and ask, they should provide you with a complete warranty update on your Disco.  If you know the original dealer, you might be able to get a copy of the complete service history of that vehicle at that dealership.
