Land Rover Repair: out side air noise, hot glue gun, interior trimming

Question
Hi,

I own a 1996 Discovery and I gotta tell you, when I am on the freeway, i get all kinds of air noise that comes in from the top of all my doors. What can i do?

Answer
Hello Dan,

I too have this same problem.  For my Disco, I plan to replace the seals with some aftermarket rubber weatherstrip that borders each door.  You can check your Disco to see if any of the seals have come loose.  A few years ago, I used a hot glue gun to reattach some of the seals.  You may be lucky and can do the same.
Also check the interior trimming.  With Disco's our age, this trim tends to get loose and start to droop.  With a strong wooden handle, one that will not leave marks, you could try to press the trimming back into place.  I've heard some owner's use a hairdryer to softly heat the moulding, which then can be pressed back into shape.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
