Lexus Repair: 1994 Lexus Es300 111,000 original miles, 1994 lexus es300, shift linkage

I just purchased this car, replacing the exhaust from the engine.. this morning i went to drive away when come to find out only reverse works..I had no warning to this no slipping or anything of the sort, could it be anything other than the transmission?

Hello there,
 I would inspect the shift linkage rod located on the front of the vehicle. The nut could be lose from time to time.  Otherwise, your transmission could be the problem.
