Lexus Repair: lexus valve seals, angle valve job, valve stem seals

Question
99 ls 300. One cyl burns bad. i fixed gm;s 20 years. No on car valve seal replacement possible?Do the springs hide too far down in recces to restrict compressor installation.

Answer
Are you just burning alittle oil on start-up? It's not entirely clear what you mean. How is it "burning bad"? Bad compression, alot of mis-fires, alot of oil consumption??? It is so ungodly rare to burn up valves in any Toyota (minus one single black sheep) on any Toyota engine for the last 25 odd years.
Do you mean the valve stem seals?

And which car is it? A Lexus 99 what? GS/SC/IS 300, LS/GS/SC 400/430, or an ES 300? (Doesn't amtter, it's still the same proceedure tho.

You have to take the camshafts out, pull the buckets out, Support the valves with compressed air via the spark plug hole so the valves don't fall in. Then you remove the retainers & spring set. From there you can pull the valve stems off, even pick up the spring shims with a magnet if needed. That's how you change the valve stem seals.
Basically... Do it yourself & do a valve job at the same time. If you really wanna get after it, take the head off & port it. Unshroud the valves, concentrate on the bowl & short side radious & get a good 3 angle valve job cut into the head.

I can tell you did GM's for 20 years. Your Toyota terminology sucks! I'm just kidding ofcorse. I can't tell you the domestic engine language so we're even. :) (Swear I spent 20 minutes talking to a Ford mechanic friend about valve clerances. It took him forever to realize that when "I" talk abot valve-lash, I'm talking about the lash between the gears which is automatically adjusted. Not the play in the valve shim to cam lobe LoL!!! Gotta love it!)
