Lexus Repair: Non working power mirrors, cell phone charger, cigarette lighters

Question
1997 Lexus ES300

On a trip my cigarette lighter and power mirrors stopped working.  I suspected a fuse but could not locate the fuse the powered both.

Answer
You blew out the CIG fuse. It's in the fuse box on the dash panel by your left knee.
For future reference, it's a cigarette lighter. Not a 12v power port. You will melt the wiring from the port from the lighter all the way back to the fuse box if you keep pulling power from it.

Look. It's like the lame, useless cup holders OK? The Japanese & Germans don't do anything when driving that could be considered a distraction. In many places it's simply against the law if not atleast considered extremely poor etiquette. No eating, no drinking, no plugging things into the car. ;)
Which co-incidentally is why until more rescent models. All 12v ports are CIGARETTE lighters, not device power ports, and all cup holders are mostly useless for any descent sized American beverage.
They simply never knew how to design things they never had a need for.

You need to install a dedicated 12v power port. You WILL melt that wire from one end of the dash to the other eventually. About the only thing you can get away with is a cell phone charger in one of those things.
