Lexus Repair: 1992 SC400 Starting problem, lexus toyota, fuse box

Question
Jason,
I have a 1992 sc400.  Recently it has seem a little harder to start.  Last night I got in and turned the key, the starter spun and when I thought the car was going to start, let off the key.  The car was not running so I tried to start again and it would do nothing.  I kind of klicks once and the lights dim, but the starter motor doesn't turn.  The fuses are good.  Could I be the starter relay?  There are two relays in the fuse box under the hood, one that says ST and one that says IG2.  Could it be one of these or do you think I have a true starter problem?  How do I check these thinks?  Any advice you might give would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Larry,
I would go ahead and check your battery voltage.  Make sure you have 12.6V or greater than that.  Inspect your starter relay.  Once you know the starter relay is good.  It's the starter. The starter job would take 5-7 hrs.   I would strongly suggest that you replace it with a Denso unit(dont ever use Bosh! No offense to these guys.   We had many problems with Bosh starter in the past).  Also replace your intake gaskets while you are at it.
