Lexus Repair: LX450 Starting Problem, antenna mast, 1997 lexus lx450

Question
I have a 1997 Lexus LX450.  When the key is turned to start it sometimes goes almost completely dead.  The dash lights go dim etc.  The starter does nothing.  On the next turn of the key (right afterwards) it will start right up as if nothing was wrong at all.  This is very intermittent and happens a couple of times a week.  There have been a couple of times when it has done this on two key turns, but has always started up.  It has been doing this for a couple of months now.  The battery is 4 months old.  Is this a relay problem?  A solenoid problem?

I have been very pleased with this vehicle and this is the first problem I have really had - Except for the power antenna.  By the way, I had a shop put a new antenna in and even though the power unit runs, they said it would not work and the entire power unit needed to be replaced.  They said it would be very expensive and did not recommend repair.  Can I do this without too much trouble?  Thank you in advance for you advice.

Answer
Hello, Hard to say what it is. Some sort of connection problem maybe in the key switch. It is not a common problem. The antenna mast can just be replaced and this should not be a problem. My suggestion is to find a quality shop with Lexus training that will be able to take care of these two items properly.
