Lexus Repair: Lexus ES300 turning signal bulb, 2000 lexus es300, lexus es300

Question
My right front turning signal bulb appears to have blown. I bought the correct bulb (I believe) but cannot figure out how to get in there to replace it. I can't believe I have to pay the dealer to fix it for me. Please help. Thank you.

Answer
Sally,

Thanks for the question.

On the surface, it would seem an easy fix; simply replace the bulb.

However, in this specific case, I am going to recommend that the entire socket for the bulb be inspected by a qualified technician.  In some cases, the bulb socket doesn't make a good connection, and no matter how many bulbs you put in there, it won't work correctly.

The bulb socket connection is especially suspect if the bulb you take out isn't actually "blown".

In any event, take a minute to watch them while they check the socket and/or replace the bulb.  You'll notice that on your model, the bulb replacement is performed by raising the hood and getting to the back of the turn signal lens from inside the engine compartment.

Hope that helps.
