Gear shifting problem - gear shift will not move from Park when stepping on brake. However, I am able to shift gears by turning the ignition into ON (but not actually starting the car), then start the car (this was the tip from the manual).

Manual states that when this happens a fuse is possibly blown, have checked all fuses and they seem to be fine, what could be causing this problem besides a fuse?

Hi Teresa,

Have someone stand behind the car when you step on the brake to see if the brake lights come on. If the don't then you will need to replace the brake switch on the brake pedal. Let me know!

Answer
Hi Teresa,

If all your wiring and fuses seem ok, then I believe you will need to replace the Brake Shift Interlock Solenoid. Located on the steering column underneath the dash. Before you do that check to make sure the wires are connected properly.
