Lincoln/Mercury Repair: Battery charging issues, gas mileage, lincoln navigator

Question
Please can you help? I have a 2001 Lincoln Navigator and when I went out to start it yesterday am it wouldn't start. The battery light was on. My husband and I filled the holes up with water and had the car charged and then did as the manual asked and followed the instructions for the transmission to re-memorize everything. I thought I had it fixed after following the steps and even my electric keys were opening the car.  I came out this morning and everything is completely drained again and it wont start. any suggestions? Thank you for your time, Christina

Answer
Hi Christina,

The only problems I have ever had with my Navies were the charging system. I had to replace the alternator and battery in both of them. I suggest you guys do the same. After I replaced the alternator in my 2000 I even got a few miles better gas mileage.
