Lincoln/Mercury Repair: Transmission speed sensor, mercury sable, sable wagon

Question
Where is the speed sensor on a 1993 Mercury Sable wagon with 3.8 V6 AXOD four speed trans. Speedo cable comes out of the firewall and straight into a tube that goes into the trans. No place for any wiring to be plugged in. This is supposed to be an electronic trans but with the exception of the neutral safety switch I don't see anything plugged in. Thanks. Tom

Hi Tom,

Those where the days when Ford was crossing over. The speed sensor is at the bottom of that cable. It also has a set of wires plugged into it which go to the TCM/PCM. When ordering it they will ask you with or without cable. If you order it without there is a white plug you can pull out and presto you have one that works with. I just order all the ones I have ever needed without cable due to that fact.
