Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 99 lincoln continental no heat, shadetree mechanic, climate control system

Question
Hello, I have a 99 Lincoln Continental that last winter had moderate heat and now has no heat. It has the climate control system and the A/C has worked fine this summer. As I said we now have no heat. Can you help please. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Warren,

I believe it is a bad servo motor. Located in the glove box, it mixs hot air and fresh air to give you the tempeture you desire. This is a round looking guy with a few wires and a vacuum hose or two. Of course, please check all vacuum lines to the unit to make sure you have good vacuum there and no broken or leaking lines if there are problems with the vacuum lines, repairing them will likely take care of this. A good shadetree mechanic should be able to replace it in about an hour.

Here are the instructions on replacement:

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery negative (-) terminal.
Disconnect the glove compartment door stop (one screw) and let the door hang by the hinges.
