Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 2000 lincoln navigator radiator drain, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol

Question
where is the drain on the radiator?  There is so much plastic under the hood I can not find it. thanks

Answer
Hi Stephen,

I just remove the chinsy spring clamp on the lower radiator hose and remove the radiator cap. Please do this when the car is cold... hehehe. Have the ignition turned to the on position and set the rear heat to hot. This way you'll drain mostly all of it. Capacity is 7 gallons fully drained. I looked at a picture of the radiator and I didn't see a petcock anywhere.

About once a year on a hot day when I am flying up the highway my top radiator hose blows off and I change my fluid when I get home! LOL Usually happens when it's over 120 degrees and I am about 2 miles from home. LOL

Ford Motor Company does not recommend nor endorse the use of engine coolants made with propylene glycol in Ford vehicles. Ford Motor Company currently recommends the use of ethylene glycol-based engine coolants.
