Followed your procedure and found code to be c05120c42d16.Cleared the DTC's from memmory and now diags run to completion 888 and symbols of all settings. The problem still exists as described below. Once the AC works (blowing out dash vents) you can shut off the ac for 10 min while driving and then turn on again and it blows out the dash vents. Turn the car off for 10 min and then we are back to blowing out defoster then goes to strong floor blowing then finally out dash vents after about 6-7 min. Is the EATC from a 94 since DTC had a 125 and will that work correctly in a 96 Town car. Thanks Ken-----------------------

Question -
a/c did not work. Blow warm air out dash vents. Mechanic replaced climate control head (used ).Air is cold now but it initialy is coming out of the defrost(not dash vents)for about 6 or 7 minutes and then switches to the dash vents. Saw ans to a? from Expert Dennis W to run control head diag by pressing off/floor together and then automatic within 3 sec. I did this and came up with error code 125. Can you tell me what this error code is? thanks Ken

CLIMATE CONTROL - EATC - DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES 115 AND/OR 125 STORED IN MEMORY - VEHICLES BUILT 8/1/94 THROUGH 12/1/94 - SERVICE TIP

FORD:
1995 CROWN VICTORIA

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1995 GRAND MARQUIS, TOWN CAR

ISSUE:
Some vehicles may have Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) 115 and/or 125 stored in the climate control EATC memory which could show up during module self test on vehicles with EATC software, level C05120C42D16. These could be false codes which may have been set during the vehicle manufacturing process or when the ignition is cycled slowly.

ACTION:
Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Enter the EATC self test mode by pressing the "OFF" and "FLOOR" buttons together and, within 2 seconds, press the "AUTO" button.

2. If DTC 115 and/or 125 appear, proceed to Step 3.

3. Exit the self test by pressing the "BLUE" button.

4. Determine the level of software by pressing the "OFF" and "FLOOR" buttons together and, within 2 seconds, press the "MAX A/C" button.

5. The software level will be shown on the display.

6. If the software level displayed is C05120C42D16, re-enter the self test and then exit the self test by depressing the "DEFROST" button. This will clear all DTC's from EATC memory.

7. Re-entering the self test at this point will give valid codes which may be diagnosed according to the procedures given in the appropriate Service Manual.

8. If the software level is other than C05120C42D16, the DTC's displayed are valid and should be diagnosed according to the procedures given in the appropriate Service Manual.

Answer
Sorry Ken,

Darn real job keeps me hoppin'. It would appear to be a vacuum problem. I had the same thing start last year in my Navi. I got a check engine light for bank 1 too lean, bank 2 too lean. I thought it was an O2 sensor, turned out to be a small vacuum hose broken. But my A/C would come on at the defrost vents, then the floor, then the vents. There is a vacuum canister under the hood that actually collects and saves vacuum for when the car is turned off. For like brake boost, but it also keeps the vent deflector in the same position it was in when you turn off the car. So if you have left the A/C and just shut off the car with A/C on the front vents, it should stay there until you start your car again unless... there is a vacuum leak.
