Lincoln/Mercury Repair: brakes, lincoln town car, car mechanic

Question
I just had my front brakes done for $500 and it literally put me in the poor house for a month I live on a fixed income andneed my car to get medicines and to the doctor, now I hear a squeeking noise from the right rear similar to a sound of a car turning the corner with low air in his tires,it happens when I put on the brakes at slow speeds ,I live in the desert of Las Vegas so I figured at first maybe it's a little dust or sand for it use to go away in 10 minutes or so but now it is not going away ,is it a major problem or one leading to a major one? It is a 1990 Lincoln Town Car that I baby; it has 90,420m on  it an I really like this car,I'm afraid that is a huge repair again for I can't survive here without a vehicle I put about 60 miles a week not much but when it's 105 daily 150yards is tough.please can you tell what it is and I hear a humming like a little motor running by the right week while the car is running and some yo yo said it's normal with lincoln; sounds are never normal Please give me the advice I need to do without going to another"MONSTER" car mechanic they are gangsters and they have you by the "stones" and I'm afraid and do not know what or where to go! Thank you no matter the outcome
