Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 97 Merc Villager Dash Light Replacement, negative battery cable, automotive store

Question
Thanks Pete.  Can I purchase these lights at the automotive store?  Are they LED bulbs or not?  Is the cluster easy to pull out (is it pretty straight forward)?  Won't the steering wheel be in the way?  Do I have to remove this also? Is there anything else I need to watch out for or remove other than disconnecting the negative battery cable?

Question -
I have a 97 Merc Villager. The lights behind all my gauges were out on the left side of the console, but were still lit up on the right side from about the center (spedometer) over.  Looked like a bulb went out on top left side only. This past weekend all lights behind the gauges went out, however the lights to the gear indicator (PRND etc.), door open, seat belts, etc. are still operable and on when necessary (all on bottm half of the console).  Can the lights that are out be easily replaced? Can I do it myself? Can you tell me how?  I don't want to pay up to $1,200 diagnostics and labor to replace a $10 bulb.
