Lincoln/Mercury Repair: Radiator removal, mercury sable, probally

Question
Have 1988 Mercury Sable w/ 3.8 Liter engine.
Need to know how to disconnect
the two "automatic transmission cooling lines" at the radiator--on the 3.8L engine.  Repair book says that one has to use special "Cooler Line Disconnect Tool, part # T82L-9500-AH.  Is there any other normal tool that can be used as substitution for that tool.  And, repair book does not make it clear how that tool works. That is, is it used to turn the line off from its fitting or is it used to hold line while using some other tool to loosen line.  Please help.

Answer
Anthony, glad you wrote. The only tools ive ever used to remove those lines is plain old line wrenches. One to hold and one to loosen. Thats probally just ford trying to make money on special tools. Hope ive helped. Merry Christmas and thanks for writing
