Mazda Repair: 2002 Mazda timing belt, mileage intervals, mazda protege

I am looking at a used 2002 Mazda Protege with 169000Km.I understand the timing belt should be replaced at certain mileage intervals.Is this applicable to this model and year?What mileage should it be done at?Any  other known problemsw I should be aware of with this model?Thanks,Mark

all makes and models that have a belt should be changed when advised by the owners manual it's probly do for one now if it wasn't already done all cars have there problems as the age and are driven if it was maintained properly it should be ok the protege is a good solid car
