Mazda Repair: 1997 Mazda 626 engine leaking coolant, mazda 626, core plugs

Question
My 1997 Mazda 626 is leaking coolant from the engine. I was told it was a plug in the engine that was worn out. Could that be the case or is it something else? The car as not overheated yet. I'm afraid to drive it with the kids in the car. It only leaks when the car is still not when I'm driving.

Answer
yes there called freeze plugs or core plugs there part of the casting process in the factory there also rather simple to replace as long as it's easy to get to you can drill a small hole in it and screw in a self taping screw and pull it out never push it in you can damage the engine also remember to drain the coolant
