Mazda Repair: 1984 mazda b2000 pickup, 1984 mazda b2000, haynes manual

Question
jt - thank you for taking my questions. where in the heck is the "timing pointer" on this truck and truck wants to die when i take off down the road. will idle for ever and seems to have sufficient fuel supply.

Answer
there normally marked on the engine housing you'll have to look hard for it it'll be top of the crank i normally use yellow chalk to mark it when i'm doing timing cause the manufacture marking is to hard to see. the main things to look for when and engine stubles on acceleration. are as follows

bad spark plugs
air leak (intake)
improper timing
fuel filter clogged
injection system faulty

start with the little things it's easy to test spark plugs and leaks with out specialty tools and it's never a bad idea to change a fuel filter prople need it anyways

it's rare for timing to go out so as i said start with the simply little things

the haynes manual is a good reference to test procedures but most specialty tools your going to use will comw with a guild
