Mazda Repair: 2001 Mazda Tribute Door Handle Problem, local scrap yards, mazda tribute

Hello..I just replaced the inner door handle on my 2001 Mazda Tribute and a few days later the outer door handle broke. After removing the panel to take a look I saw that a small plastic piece had broken. This piece connects the inner part of the handle to the rod which allows you to lock the car with the key from the outside. Apparently this piece is not sold separately so the dealer said that I have to purchase the whole outer door handle. Any suggestions for an alternative repair method. Also please any instructions on how to remove the outer drivers side door handle in case I decide to buy a new one from the dealership.

you can try local scrap yards for stuff like that and it'll only be a couple bucks if you have the panel off it's just a matter of removing the nuts/or bols holding it on and undoing the locking clips that you already have broken. you can sometimes even get after market clips for some models and the best place to source those are body shops
