Mazda Repair: Air bag indicator light on dash blinks., computer fault, mx 5

Question
My 1990 MX-5 air bag light, on the dash has been blinking for 1 year now. Took the MX-5 to my Miata dealer and was told that the sensor on the front fender was bad, and needed replaced. It was to cost me, for the sensor and service, over $400.00. Does this sound correct, for that Mazda problem that I am having? Were are the sensors, on the 1990 located? Can I replace one myself with a new part? Thanks...Gordon in NE Ohio

Answer
yes they are expensive sensors and do take some time to replace because the fender has to be removed, you can replace them yourself by removing the fender and it'll be right there but the computer fault will have to ereased after you replace it

make sure to dis-arm the airbag system and disconnect the battery before disconnecting the sensor

sorry i do not suggest you disarming the system yourself
