Mazda Repair: New Car....parking break, automatic cars, standard cars

Question
Hi,

I bought a mazda 5 last week and today I made a mistake.  This could happen with any car but I chose to ask you because you are also familiar with mazdas.  I left the parking break on.....drove for about 5 minutes without understanding why the car was holding me back.  Then I was upset to realise that I had left the parking brake on and I even tried to put the gas up a little to try and figure out what was wrong...then realised it was the brake.  Can you tell me what damage I might have caused to the car.  It's not brand new but it is new for us (a 2008).....should I have a concern that I have caused major damage ....and if so what have I done and what should I do now?

Thanks for your help,
Shelly

Answer
the parking brake manually apllies the brakes under manual presure. i can't assume you caused major damage but you could of cause premature brake wear and put the engine under a harder load check the fuilds and have the brakes checked and you should be ok.

note: don't feel to bad i've done it myself going back and forth from standard cars to automatic cars it sometimes happens
