AnswerI'm assuming you have a base model with heat only.
It is feasible to convert a non AC model to AC. It takes a good bit of work spanning several areas of the car and numerous components, lines and other parts to make it happen. Used parts are best option since the cost will be high. There is no ready made kit to convert your Miata over to AC. We have done several here since we restore Miatas. You would need to confirm that your vehicle wire harness has the required plug points. Most 1992+ model do.
A quick list of the main system parts and rough numbers;
Compressor (consider new) and mounting bracket, 5 bolts ($400-$450)
Condenser, Receiver (should be new), Hoses and Hard lines (HP switch) ($400-$500)
Main Cooling Unit (evaporatior, thermo sensor, expansion valve (best new)) ($200-$500)
In dash control panel ($125)
