Mazda Repair: Mazda Miata mirrow cover, phillips head screws, mazda miata

Question
How do you tighten the driver door mirror cover? It rattles all the time and drives me crazy>

Answer
The only fasteners on the door mirrors are two phillips head screws.  Depending on which mirror yours has either manual or electric the access varies.  Manual is located under the snap base which has four release tabs that secure it into place.  Very common to break these when lifting the base (I have a feeling this is what you may be referring to, if so the tabs cannot be replaced, short of a new mirror assembly the only fix is dabs of adhesive putty).  If you have electric mirrors the mirror head swings away to expose the screw heads.  If the mirror was struck it could be possible the fastener base in the door is damaged in this case tightening of the screws does nothing since the place they attach is loose inside the door.

Sorry, I took a week off for vacation.  Still not bad for free advice.
