Mazda Repair: 90 Miata loosing radiator fluid, radiator fluid, spring hose

Question
I have a 90 Miata that is loosing radiator fluid somplace at the back of the engine. I can see it dripping/running out pretty far back under the car, maybe before the tranny. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Answer
The two most coomon leak points on the rear of a 90-93 Miata are the No1 heater hose or rubber pipe plug affixed to the back of the cylinder head.  If you can utilize a pressure tester pressurize the radiator to 10 PSI and use a flash light to source out the leak.

You can easily follow the heater hose to the rear cover it attaches to.  The pipe plug is low on the rear of the cylinder head passenger's side, roughly 1/2" in diameter and about 1" long with a spring hose clamp (not an easy bugger to get to).

Seldom does the rear outlet cover leak (the cover the heater hose attaches to but, worth a look while it pressurized.
