Mazda Repair: miata clutch, shaft alignment, alignment issues

Question
i am putting the clutch back into my 97 miata it is a stage 3 clutch and i can't remember which way it is supposed to go back in i looked on it to see if it had something saying which side goes against the flywheel but i can't seem to find it anywhere it is flat on one side and the other side sticks out in the middle if you know which way it goes i would appreciate the help thanks

Answer
Glad I could help.  You owe me lunch.

Flat side to the flywheel, raised to the spring plate - be sure to use an alignment tool and center well before tightening or you will have pilot/to shaft alignment issues.  The tool alone can't align everything properly you'll have to equalize the free play both up and down and left to right.

I assume you found a sticky pilot bearing.
