Mazda Repair: 98 Mazda 626 w/L4, exhaust noise, mazda 626

Question
I have owned this car for a few yrs now. Last sunday I went out to drive the car (after it sat for a few days), I had to jump the car from my truck. When it did start- it popped. Now, it won't start when cold. It will start when warmed up, but sounds like the exhaust noise is in the exhaust header instead of the muffler or converter. Could the timing have jumped or do you think the intake gasket might have blown (again)?
Even though the car has 172K miles on it, it's still a nice car & don't have any plans to replace it in the near future. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
a hard start when cold is probly due to a discharged are low battery

as for the other i'm not to sure i don't time it would be the timing you you can try disconnecting the cat to see if it's clogged but i'm not to sure what would cause the exhaust noise your talking about without the car
