Mazda Repair: Rx7 will not start, neutral safety switch, light dims

Question
Just got a 83 RX7 to restore.  Runs fine then I parked it
the next morning would not start.  All gages come on lights
work but when I turn the key nothing no click no dimming of
the lights only the break caution light dims.  Will not
start in neutral any ideas Thanks for any help and have a
blessed day

Answer
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission and a clutch interlock switch on the pedal.  Either can open the circuit and not allow the starter to engage.  Check the interlock first attached to the clutch pedal it sees the most use, a rubber pad that catches the pin switch is common to fail.  If you recently had the transmission out for work the safety switch may be disconnected or the plug may have been damaged upon removal/install or not fitted properly.
