Mazda Repair: 626 transmission problem, synthetic atf, transmission troubles

I've read there are a lot of transmission troubles with automatic transmission beacuse of bad cooling or something like that on the 626 model.  Do you know what model years this pertains to and is there a fix to prevent it.

4 cylinder, 4 speed models from 93-97 most if not all.  Have seen very few in the 1998-2002 fail.  They were cursed with a four letter word. F-O-R-D.  It never hurts to add an auxiliary cooling unit though can't say if it will keep you trouble free.  I might suggest a full synthetic ATF that has a broader temperature range.
