Mazda Repair: 95 626 A/C not cooling, panel lamps, blown fuse

Question
I was driving and the A/C abruptly stopped cooling. All switches and panel lamps still work as normal. Freon pressure at the low side is 70-90 pounds. The only thing I found wrong was that the 30 amp fusible link in the fuse/relay box under the hood was blown. I replaced that and still no cooling. It seems like the compressor is kicking on and off when I engage the A/C panel switch.

I love this car, but it's becoming a money pit. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Answer
Look directly at the compressor to see if the clutch is engaging or not.  You will hear it engage/disengage also.  Low side pressure should be 30-45 PSI at around 1800 RPM.

If you have a blown fuse or link the system will not operate, the clutch will not engage.  If it is engaging and running then the system is working electrically.  The fault may be a blockage or low refrigerant if so.
