Mazda Repair: 1998 Mazda Protege Stalled at stop sign, wont start, mazda protege, fuel pump

Question
I stopped at a stop sign and when I stepped on the gas pedal, the car just quit on me.  Was not able to start it and had to have it towed home.  Waited for over an hour and tried to start it again, after researching online, and it still wont start.  Any ideas as to what it could be?

Answer
did you try testing the fuel pump?

with a buddy put your ear close to the fuel tank and have him turn the car to the on position ( don't try and start it) and listen for a humming noise if you don't hear anything chances are you have a faulty fuel pump
