Mazda Repair: CV joints, 1995 mazda mx6, mazda mx6

Question
On a 1995 Mazda MX6 how do you remove the CV joint from the axle shaft? I thought there was just a spring clip holding it on but after supporting the shaft and rapping the outer joint with a brass mallet it won't budge. Whats the trick and also how does the axle come out of the automatic trans? Thanks

Answer
i don't sugeest trying to fix the cv joint on the axle commonly i replace it as a unit to remove the axle you'll first have to sperate the axle from the steering nuckle the driver side is easy and should just pop out remember to replace the lock ring when reinstalling the axle on the passenger side the is a bracket attacted toe the axle that's bolted to the motor. try using a ball joint and tierod removal tool to remove these parts using tool such as a pickle fork or spliter will bamage these parts and will have to replaced to check wear on they's parts simple jack the car up and support it on jack stands and move the tire from side to side and top and bottom and check for any play.
