Mazda Repair: 99 Mazda Protege Engine line on, obdii scanner, smog check

Question
I took my Protege to do Smog check and the engine light was on.  The shop replaced the Map Sensor, but once I drove off, it came back on.  What might be the problem?

Answer
Since the map sensor did not solve the problem, it makes me wonder if the shop knows why the light is on. Honestly, there is not excuse for a shop not being able to solve a check engine light problem. ObdII makes this process easy. Hopefully they know what is wrong since the map sensor didn't work. And hopefully they're not charging you for the sensor. Replacing parts is not an acceptable diagnostic method.

Any how, you should have someone put an obdII scanner on the car. Write down all the code numbers and their explanations. I can help more at that point.

Also, did the emissions testing station use the gas analyser on your car? I'm curious what the results were.
