Mazda Repair: no start after running mazda 323, coolant temperature sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor

Question
Thanks for the reply Al, I'm not sure about the disty as when i try to turn it over i pulled the ht leads of the spark plugs and could see spark grounding off the engine block.  The AA breakdown guy suggested a faulty roter but Im suspecting an Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor but my mechanic isnt convinced.

-----Question-----
Hi,
I have an automatic 1994 mazda 323 saloon. After driving for a short period and turning the engine off, the car wont restart for several hours. I have replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs ht leads, cleaned the fuel filter and replaced the battery. Power is getting to the plugs, fuel pressure in the line is good.  And pulling the pump out i see it pumping fuel when i turn the key. Engine turns over but wont ignite. It seems like a heat related problem, but the car has never stalled whilst its going.  My mechanic is exasperated and wont work on it anymore. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Dale

hey dale,  said your getting spark,  but are you after your short drives? i've seen many of those 323's do this.. what i've found was a bad igniter in the distributor, i would replace the distributor with a mazda reman unit,  dont use an aftermarket one  cause i've had nothing but problems with those!  not a cheap guess but bet it solves the problem. btw,  what is a 323 saloon?  lol.  al

Answer
doubt it's a senor,  you got 3 out of 4.  suck, sqeeze, blow, but no bang! i still would check out that dis,  one sure way is when it wont start, pull a plug to see if it's wet with fuel.  dis may be sending a signal to pcm to shut down fuel.  also pull the vacume line off the fuel regulator and see if any gas in in the line, if so' the regulator is bad   what can cause all sort of problems
