Mazda Repair: 2000 Mazda Protege Hesitation, mazda protege, computer checks

Hi,

I have a 2000 Mazda Protege. The car hesitates when I try to accelerate upon starting it also often stalls. I've been ahving this problem for quite sometime and tried to ahve it remedied many times, it's still under warranty, and each time I try and get it fixed they insist there is nothing wrong and it is just the air filter...the air filter has been replaced and the problem still exists, i thought that there maybe a problem with the computer, since I used to ahve the same problem with an oldsmobile and that was the cause behind the problem. I've had numerous computer checks run on it and they insist the computer shows nothing. What could be the problem? As is said it only happens when i start the car, I give it some gas and she sputters and almost stalls, if I pump it and let pressure off the gas peddle it will jolt forward, as if it's getting all the gas in one big spurt, can you help me? I'm really starting to get frustrated with the whole thing?

I have seen many similar problem, have somebody check the Egr valve that will cause a cough and sputter at idle and a stall issue, the mazda computers have been pretty good so I dont see that being the problem. does the check engine light com on? if it does have the code retrieved and tell me what it is!
