Mazda Repair: Radio size and installation, 1988 mazda 323, radio size

Question
I need to replace a radio in my daughters 1988 Mazda 323. When they stole the radio they also took the sleeve and the brackets. What size radio will fit and where could I get new brackets

Answer
Well, the new radio will come with a new sleeve. You daughter’s car uses the size denotation know as DIN. Most every radio you see will be DIN. Trucks and minivans with large radios use 1.5 DIN or double DIN. You will need the following to complete your mission.

1 Pkg of at least 12 red crimp splice connectors.
One Standard size (DIN) radio
One FORD/Mazda Adapter harness for select vehicles 1983- up.

These are all available at Wall Mart, but I would rather go to circuit city or best buy and get a little extra. The boys at circuit city or best buy will be able to look at how much is missing and tell you how much you will actually need. And if you are not looking forward to installing it the best buy boys will do it for a minimal fee.
