Mazda Repair: rpm, vacuum leak, luck chris

Question
i have a 90 mazda 929s rpm gauge not working.what do i need to check, and where do i find it on car, also idles to high what to check and where to find

Answer
Hi matt thanks for asking
Im not one hundred percent on this but I think the RPM readings are from the distributor, It is internaly built in. A high idle may be contributed from a vacuum leak which was fairly common on these trucks... Just get an intake cleaner or throotle body cleany and sray the engine down with the engine running, and if the idle changes any more or the engine wants to stall out, you will get an idea where the leak is when you spray in that are
good luck
