Mazda Repair: 1989 Mazda 626, blower motor resistor, fan speed control

Question
I'm trying to replace the fan speed control switch in the dash. I removed the front panel but all of the controls won't pull out in a cluster. How do I get all of the climate controls out so I can change just the fan switch?

Answer
HI Bob
It is a fairly difficult task to replace thoses switchews without breaking something, If i remeber correctly all those switches are run off engine vacuum. But I need to know what the problem is with that switch, alot of people misdiagnose a problem with the fan to be the switch, but actualy it isnt. If you have  only one or two of the fan speeds working when you turn the switch it is more than likely the blower motor resistor located right beside the blower motor. It is a cheap replacement part and not to to difficult to install.
Good luck
