Mercedes Benz repair: Bleeding fuel system, fuel injection system, carbon residue

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a  Sep. 1980 380 SLC. Engine No. 11696122001127.

I have had to drain the fuel tank as car was stored for 7 years hence stale petrol.
I have disconnected both fuel lines coming to engine an attached hoses to allow drainage of any old fuel in pump or lines.
My question is : does the injection system need bleed and if so how is it done? Thanks. Eugene.

ANSWER: did you disconect the line that goes to thefuel pump? if not you should anyways as far as the Fuel injection system I would disconnect the fuel injectors and lines and clean them out as far as the EFI I would put maybe a 1/4 can of seafoam down the throttle body and when you start up the car put the other 3/4 down the gas tank to get any old gas carbon residue out

QUESTION: Thanks Shane for your response. I got all the old fuel out and gave the base of the tank a good wipe with old towel material. I did this via the sender unit aperture at the rear window, copper brake pipe being ideal for the job positioning the rag tied to string.
I put 20 Ltrs of fuel in, disconnected pipes from tank at fuel distributor, hoping to clear pump and line of old fuel. A fully charged battery used but unable to get any flow at all from fuel pipes. As vehicle had to be moved and brakes sticking i squirted a controlled supply of fuel direct onto damper throat and engine started immediately. During the 5 minute period this was being done NO fuel emitted from pipes. Is the pump done or is their a common electrical fault in the system? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Eugene

ANSWER: I would jump your fuel pressure relay and check whether your pump is running or hook up 12v directly to the fuel pump. and check to see if it tuns on. My suggestion would be a fuel pump gone the way of the dodo. to check the regulator it will be on drvers side google or ebay a fuel pressure relay (if there is one find it on your car and jump it I believe #87 and the one directly across maybe #30 put a piece of wire from both terminals on female socket end youll hear a buzzing to where you will get fuel to the Distributor and youll hear it gushing thru if you dont your fuel pump gone froze upthen you would probably want to replace the filter also since your right there

QUESTION: Hi Shane,
you are making things a lot clearer re this problem.
I believe the problem is the relay because this vehicle had a frontal shunt when last driven and it would appear the safety shut of has activated.Idid not know about this feature until it was mentioned otherwise i would have mentioned the frontal shunt.
As my car is RHD  where is the relay located. Of course that is if you agree is where the problem lies. there is a local Mercedes only breakers yard near me, no old SLCs. Will a relay from any other model replace mine? Many thanks Eugene.

Answer
It would be on the opposite passengers side near the firewall it should say kickdown or something like that(i know my 190e has that) as far as other models I would think the only the slc models would work

It says that the switch relay is in the glove box occording to this forum, but check around should say kickdown on it
